Kilowatt Kate + Steph Cloutier: Cast Paper Lantern

Kilowatt Kate and Steph Cloutier began experimenting with illuminating Steph’s handcast paper panels in 2023 while developing a set of wall sconces for the Everyday Lighting II presented at Harbourfront Centre, where both Steph and Kate were artists-in-residence.
Handcast paper panels on a hand-built bamboo frame construction glow softly thanks to custom lighting components created by Kate. Constructed with techniques similar to washi paper lanterns, the warm glow transforms any space into a moment of calm.
